Nepal China Expo 2018 set to give unique shopping experience

As the festive season is knocking the door of the nation, Arniko Culture and Business Promotion Society (ACBPS) is all set to provide a unique shopping experience to Nepalese and tourists alike.

The not-for-profit organization – ACBPS has announced Nepal China Expo 2018 – a 5 day exhibition of products ranging from Nepalese handicrafts to wide range of consumer and household goods suitable for this Dashain & Tihaar.

“The exhibition scheduled for 5th till 9th October 2018 shall observe around 60 stalls of various consumer goods and branded items from China along with equal numbers of Nepalese handicraft, herbal products and food stalls.” said Ajar Man Joshi, President ACBPS, “The expo shall add quality in the lifestyle of Nepalese while attracting tourists to have unique shopping experience inside the historical ambience of Patan Durbar Square”

Joshi who also happens to be the past president of Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce & Industries says the event is organized with an objective to promote trade and culture between Nepal and China. He highlighted Patan being the city of fine arts and birthplace of great artists like Araniko who spread craftsmanship and image of Nepal in China centuries ago and thus the venue for the event. “It’s time to revisit the relations. However as a beginning for ACBPS, it’s time to walk the talk of connectivity between two nations at trading level.” says Joshi.

The venue for the event has been set in Patan Durbar Square including walk-through to the part of historical museum and the major events happening at the backyard garden of the historical palace – Bhandarkhaal Bagaincha dating back to 16th century Malla period.

“The exhibitors, visitors and tourists in Patan during the Expo will have unique shopping experience as well as enjoy cultural shows, art demonstration and live bands. There will be special fashion show demonstrating local Dhaka and Cotton products with an objective to promote textile from eastern Lalitpur – Lubhoo popular for handloom industry.” Mr. Joshi added.

“The exhibitors from China have confirmed 60 stalls including branded products from Beijing, Goungzhou, Senchen, Shanghai and Yiwu – the most popular city for Nepalese traders.” says Rupendra Raj Shakya, executive member of ACBPS who is coordinating the Chinese Exhibitors. “The wide range of products at the Expo will include daily household utilities and furniture, garments, accessories and kids wear. Sports wear, mobile gadgets and electronics along with Branded products from Chinese exhibitors like REMAX, TEJJAR, MAJIC LIGHT BULB, LINGZEN and VR Park will attract the youth.” Shakya added.

40% of stalls have been booked by domestic exhibitors at the Expo and they sound equally enthusiastic about the upcoming exhibition. Organizer claim that Nepali manufacturers will also have a platform to showcase their products not only to the local public but also potentially for export.

“It’s a known fact how China has developed itself in past four decades. To learn more from our neighboring country, it’s high time events like these happen more often in Nepal to promote trade relations and build people-to-people connectivity between two nations.” said Rajan Maharjan, Proprietor of LI-NING – authorized Chinese Sports Wear Brand in Nepal. Another Nepalese exhibitor and artisan Ratna Man Shakya, proprietor of Ratna Wood Carving says “Our past exhibition experience in different parts has seen lot of interested buyers of woodcraft. While our products are suitable for Nepalese market as well, we hope to connect with traders and businesses in China for quality exports.” According to the organizer, Nepalese exhibitors have confirmed their bookings for wooden, metal and stone handicraft products along with herbal and other indigenous products.

“We are working on final preparations and we expect turnover of over 2 lacs visitors during the 5 day Expo. We will soon organize a press meet to share details shall of our special and formal programs during the event.” said Mr.Sachendra Raj Joshi, Vice President at ACBPS.

The first ever Nepal China Expo 2018 co-organized by China Nepal Culture Exchange Center and Arniko Samaj will be a showcase of trade and culture that look promising to attract both domestic and tourists alike. With price range starting as low as Rs. 10 for stationary items and most products priced within the budget of average citizen,  the EXPO is set to give its visitors a unique shopping experience along with a taste of cultures from Nepal and China.
